A new date for your diary

A College training day to be held on Friday 23 May. This means that the College will be closed to students on this day, apart from for students who are sitting examinations. The reason for this is the significant amount of planning and work to be completed by the staff to enable the College to open as an 11 – 19 school in September. We have not come to this decision lightly; all staff take very seriously their responsibility to fully prepare students for their examinations and limit disruption to teaching and learning at all costs. The County Council are due to make a final decision on the College becoming an 11 – 19 school on 27 May, but work has already begun and must continue throughout this term to ensure that students gain an instant benefit from the proposed new school in September through everyone being fully prepared for the event. I would like to thank you in advance for making the necessary arrangements for the care of your son or daughter on Friday 23 May and for your support of all our work in order to continually improve and provide the best teaching and learning that we can in Whitby.
