As part of the Geography Department’s fieldwork schedule, Year 8 students will be participating in Geography fieldwork, organised by the North York Moors National Park Education Service in Danby, on the following dates:
- 8B and 8D – Wednesday 23 September 2015
- 8C and 8E – Friday 25 September 2015
- 8A will attend on a different day to be advised by a further letter in due course
The fieldwork is part of the Danby Moor Community and Education Programme. It will comprise of a river habitat study, geocaching and a moorland walk. Coaches will leave College at 9.00am and will return in time for the buses at 3.30pm. Students will need to bring a packed lunch with them although one will be provided for those who are eligible for a free school lunch.
Students need to wear old, outdoor clothing, including a waterproof jacket and strong shoes. It is imperative that students are equipped with warm clothing as the weather can be unpredictable on the moors. It would be useful if students brought wellington boots with them. Whilst the Centre does have some available for students, their supply is very limited.
Students may bring cameras, but will be responsible for their own possessions. A secure room is available for bags etc. There is a small cafe where students may buy drinks and ice creams and there may be an opportunity to visit the Moors Centre Shop at the end of the visit.
A voluntary contribution of £25.00 can be paid on ParentPay.
