Plans are now underway for the launch of our outdoor education residential to Bewerley Park at Pateley Bridge and we would like to take this opportunity to invite your son/daughter to participate.
Bewerley Park Outdoor Education Centre is set on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales; it has many local landmarks such as Brimham Rocks, How Stean Gorge and the Nidderdale Valley which means the centre offers a high quality outdoor experience in a wonderful natural, environment. Students will have the opportunity to participate in a range of outdoor learning opportunities such as; mountain biking, ghyll scrambling, caving, gorge walking, canoeing, kayaking, sailing, high ropes and zip wire (heights), low ropes and climbing.
All activities are led by fully qualified and experienced Bewerley Park staff, who hold National Governing Body qualifications. Students will be provided with waterproof, protective clothing, walking boots and wellington boots. We will travel to and from College by coach and accommodation will be provided in same-sex dormitories; these include bedding and washing facilities. All food will be catered for by Bewerley Park.
This residential opportunity will provide a wide outdoor learning experience and is offered to all students as an important part of their personal development, linking very closely to their learning capabilities studied at College as part of their curriculum. This is a fantastic chance for students to build relationships with each other and with staff, through a valuable learning experience in the outdoors and we want all students to be able to access this opportunity. The total cost of the outdoor residential is £279.00. This includes all accommodation, travel and insurance, as well as specialist instruction and use of all equipment. For families who are in receipt of free school meals there may be financial assistance available and parents should indicate if this is applicable on the reply slip; we will however require everyone to pay a deposit to secure places and this will be taken into consideration when the balance is calculated.
The dates for the residential visit will be 14-18 March 2016*. We will require a £50.00 deposit by Friday 29th November 2015. The balance can then be paid in instalments or in full by 29 February 2016.
Please complete the reply slip sent home with your son/daughter and return it to the Scoresby Site’s Reception with the £50.00 non-refundable deposit, or the full amount if you prefer to settle in full. Payment can be made by ‘ParentPay’ or by cheque. (Please make any cheques payable to “Caedmon College Whitby”.) Further information will be given out at a parents evening nearer to the departure date.
If you wish to discuss the visit or require further information before the payment of the non-refundable deposit, please do not hesitate to contact me at the College, either by telephone or email to: firstname.lastname@example.org
