Enclosed below is information issued by the Local Authority about their consultation on the proposed merger of the College with Eskdale School. Until now, the information available to parents has not included anything from the College, although much has been published by local community groups.
I fully understand that it is currently a very tentative and anxious time for parents and you no doubt have many questions about the future of your son’s or daughter’s education at this time. I wish to reassure you that we have already put much work into ensuring that every student will get the support and curriculum offer to provide them with the best opportunities for successful outcomes, both now and in the future, from the ages of 11 to 19. This is of paramount importance to us at Caedmon College Whitby. To be able to reassure you further, I hope that you will feel able to ask me any questions that you have, at any time during this consultation process. In addition, to provide you with the facts from Caedmon College Whitby’s point of view on the proposed merger and its implications, I would like to invite you to a meeting with myself, some members of staff and some governors at which there will be a short presentation and the remainder of the time will be for us to respond to your questions. This should help you to be well-informed of the facts relating to the proposed merger, prior to the Local Authority’s public meeting that you are invited to attend on either 14 or 15 March. Myself and College Governors would encourage you to have your point of view heard by the Local Authority by responding to their consultation document.
Our meeting will take place from 6.30 to 7.30pm on Thursday 3 March in the Main Hall on the College’s Normanby Site and I do hope to see you there. If you are unable to attend, but would like to ask me any questions about the proposed merger, then please contact me via email to firstname.lastname@example.org or by telephoning the College on 01947 602406.
