Last week, on the 6 October, 11 ex West Cliff students volunteered to go back into their old primary school in order to present an assembly about the Year 7 residential camping trip to Commondale. The students who gave up their own time to practice and present were Anthony Hewison, Daniel Frankland, Poppy Hartley, Sophie Holden, Finley Knaggs, Katie Spark, Charlie Sutcliffe-Dodds, Benjamin Underdown, Felicity Knowles, Martin Zhang and Molly Bishop. They were welcomed back into West Cliff by their Year 6 teacher and other staff members. Key Stage 2 children watched the assembly and were given the opportunity to ask questions at the end. Every CCW student spoke in front of the assembly and West Cliff staff commented on how smart and grown up the students were. The Key Stage 2 children were very interested in the camping equipment and how the Year 7 students had managed to cook their own meal on a small stove!
This week other Year 7 students have volunteered to present assemblies at Lythe, St Hedda’s an Stakesby Primary Schools. The Year 7 students benefit from the experience of presenting in front of an audience and they have all been very excited at seeing their old schools and teachers. The primary schools have been keen to welcome back ex students and find out how they are settling in at CCW.
