Learn an Instrument Opportunity!

All students at CCW have the opportunity to take individual or group weekly lessons on a huge range of instruments or voice.

We have visiting teachers for:
  • Woodwind (flute, clarinet, oboe, saxophone)
  • Brass (trumpet, cornet, trombone)
  • Percussion (drumkit)
  • Voice
  • Strings
  • Piano and keyboard
Many students are eligible for funding towards these lessons. Every effort is made to ensure that they are timetabled at a different time each week, so that students do not miss the same lessons.
There are many benefits to students gained through learning an instrument – skills that apply to all aspects of their learning and personal development. These include:
  • improving mathematical and literacy skills
  • improving self esteem
  • developing perseverance and time management skills
  • improves concentration
  • creative and stress outlet
  • creating a sense of achievement and working towards goals
  • increases responsibility
  • improves social skills, through taking on opportunities of performing in bands and ensembles
  • boosts capacity for memory
  • develops cultural awareness
