Caedmon College Whitby recently held a Minibus Driver Awareness Scheme (MiDAS) course at its Normanby Site. MiDAS is a national scheme, administered by the Community Transport Association (CTA), aimed at promoting safe and lawful minibus driving. It is organisational policy that all North Yorkshire County Council employees, who need to drive a minibus in their role, hold a MiDAS certificate that is valid for four years.
Seven people from four organisations took part in the MiDAS training at the College in September. The training is organised into two parts: theory training, done as a group, at the College and secondly, an individual driving assessment, undertaken at a later date.
The MiDAS trainer for the College is David Young, a member of the support staff and Educational Visits Co-ordinator, who has fifteen years of experience of the MiDAS regulations, having previously worked in community transport in Ryedale for ten years. The College offers the ‘Standard’ MiDAS training. If you would like to participate in a MiDAS course, please contact the College.
