All Year 11 students from both Eskdale School and Caedmon College will be taking part in a ‘Post 16 Taster Day’ on Wednesday 3 October. It is a non-uniform day for Year 11 only, and will be hosted from the Learning Centre on the Normanby site, between 8.55am and 1.00pm. It is a normal school day and so, of course, attendance is compulsory. Eskdale students and teachers will be leaving at the start of lunchtime, after which our Year 11 students will return to their normal timetable, attending Period 3 as normal.
During the course of the morning, students will get the opportunity to experience a number of the A-level and other Level 3 courses that we’ll be offering in Whitby’s Sixth Form provision next year. They have already opted for which broad areas of study and groups of subjects they’re most interested in finding out about. Inevitably these sessions will only be ‘tasters’ but we hope that the event will help to focus our students into thinking about their options after the end of Year 11. Students will also be able to access information about our Level 2 L4P (Learning for Progress) and our Level 1 Foundation Learning courses, as well as the wealth of extra-curricular opportunities and enrichment qualifications that we will be offering. Many of our current Year 12 students will be on hand to guide students from session to session, as well as giving their insight into life in the Sixth Form.
Can I take this opportunity of inviting you to our Post 16 Open Evening on Thursday 4 October between 4.30pm and 6.30pm on the Normanby site. There will be a short presentation at 5.00pm, repeated at 6.00pm, and a chance to speak to specialist teachers and senior College staff.
We look forward to welcoming to this event.
