Plans are now being made for the launch of our outdoor education residential to Bewerley Park at Pateley Bridge and we would like to take this opportunity to invite your son/daughter to attend.
Bewerley Park Outdoor Education Centre is set on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales; it has many local landmarks such as Brimham Rocks, How Stean Gorge and the Nidderdale Valley, which means the centre offers a high quality, outdoor experience in a wonderful, natural environment. Students will have the opportunity to participate in a range of outdoor learning opportunities such as: mountain biking; ghyll scrambling; caving; gorge walking; canoeing; kayaking; sailing; high ropes and zip wire (heights); low ropes and climbing.
All activities are led by fully qualified and experienced Bewerley Park staff who hold National Governing Body qualifications. Students will be provided with waterproof protective clothing, walking boots and wellington boots. We will travel to and from the College by coach and accommodation will be provided in same-sex dormitories, which include bedding and washing facilities. All food will be catered for by Bewerley Park.
This residential opportunity sits within a wide, outdoor learning curriculum that is offered to all students and is an important part of the students’ personal development, linking very clearly to the learning capabilities being studied at the College. This is a fantastic chance for students to build strong relationships with each other and with staff, through a valuable learning experience in the outdoors and we want all students to be able to access this opportunity. The cost of the outdoor residential is £252.00. By moving the week at the last moment, we have gained a discount of nearly £100 on the week. The cost includes all accommodation, travel and insurance, as well as specialist instruction and use of equipment. For those students in receipt of free school meals, we only require the deposit; the other costs are subsidised by County.
The residential will take place from 11-15 March 2019 and the dates for payments are as follows:
- £20.00 deposit due no later than Monday 10 December 2018
- The remaining balance of £232.00 can be paid in instalments when is best for yourself
- Full payment is required no later than Friday 22 February 2019.
Please complete the attached reply slip and return it to the Scoresby site reception with a £20.00 non-refundable deposit, or the full amount if you prefer, by Monday 10 December 2018. Payment can be made by ‘ParentPay’ or by cheque made payable to Caedmon College Whitby.
We will hold a parents’ meeting nearer the time at which we will give you more information. If you would like more information before sending in the non-refundable deposit, please do not hesitate to contact me at the College
