Important Message for Parents

Dear Parents/Carers

We are writing to inform you about exciting new developments for secondary education in Whitby.

Eskdale School and Caedmon College Whitby are launching today a consultation about a proposal to form a federation of the two schools.  The consultation documents, together with an initial set of Frequently Asked Questions, are included with this letter and detail for you how this federation would work.  An important element of these proposals is to create a new Whitby Sixth Form Centre on the current Scoresby site.

The governors of both schools consider that forming a federation would enable us to collaborate and support each other, in a closer partnership, in order to create the best possible opportunities for all young people in the Whitby area.

Please contact either of our headteachers, Andy Fyfe at Eskdale or Simon Riley at Caedmon, if you have any questions about these proposals.  As detailed in the accompanying documents, each school will be hosting a consultation meeting as part of our process:

  • Monday 14 January, 6.00pm at Eskdale School
  • Wednesday 16 January, 6.00pm at Caedmon College (Normanby site)

You are welcome to attend one or both of these meetings.  We look forward to hearing your views as part of the consultation process.

Best wishes

Gill Teanby, Chair of Governors Eskdale School

Andy Fyfe, Headteacher Eskdale School

Pen Cruz, Chair of Governors Caedmon College

Simon Riley, Headteacher Caedmon College
