Step into Year 11 – Thursday 12 September

Welcome back to the new academic year. We are really looking forward to working with you to ensure that your son/daughter is well prepared for their GCSE examinations next summer, and that they receive our help and advice about the different post 16 options that are available to them. The school year has started well, with Year 11 students being focused in lessons and are already back into good studying routines.  This is, of course, an extremely important year for them as well as for you as their parents/carers.  As a College, we recognise the teamwork and collaboration that goes into ensuring that each of our students achieve their potential. With this in mind, we would like to invite you to attend our information evening, “Step into Year 11”, on Thursday 12 September, between 5.00pm and 6.30pm at the new Whitby Sixth Form Centre (on the College’s Scoresby Site).

There will be a short presentation by the Key Stage 4 team which you can attend at 5.00pm, repeated at 6.00pm. This will cover College systems, key dates and essential points of contact to help support you and your son/daughter throughout the academic year. In addition, there will be an opportunity to visit information stalls for each subject, enabling you to talk to teachers about how best to support your child in that subject, and to look at the resources that you can access to help your son or daughter to succeed.

Mr Riley, Mrs Kirk (SENCO) and other senior colleagues will also be available for parents/carers who have any concerns that they wish to discuss. Ms Mackle, our careers advisor, will also be available to discuss the support she will be offering.

We know that you, like us, want the best possible outcomes for your son or daughter. We thank you for your continued support and ask that you indicate your attendance by telephoning the College, on the above number by Monday 9 September, alternatively you can email post@ccwhitby.org

We look forward to seeing you on Thursday 12 September.

Yours sincerely

Mr Simon Riley
Principal
