I am very proud to welcome you to Caedmon College Whitby’s Sixth Form website. I believe that this website presents a clear picture of the exciting and innovative Sixth Form that I have the honour of leading. We believe our commitment to high standards continues to ensure all our students reach their potential with whatever skills they possess in order to progress into Further Education, Higher Education or employment. There are no barriers to achievement in this College and teachers, parents and students work together to create an unbeatable team with one common goal – the best possible success for every student.

Our staff are highly qualified and dedicated professionals with a diverse range of talents and skills. They all work tirelessly to support the education of the young people at the College. That is why our examination results continue to impress and add value to students’ lives.

We have a strong tradition of success that is built upon a firm foundation of strong pastoral care. We believe that every student is capable of exceeding our expectations and that a climate of care and support, focused on achievement, ensures success.

Above all, Caedmon College Whitby Sixth Form is committed to teamwork. We believe that by working together we can ensure success for everyone. Every student has unlimited potential, it is our duty to tap into that reservoir of talent so that everyone achieves their best.

We are proud to be an inclusive Sixth Form and offer courses from Level 1 to Level 4. We offer a range of enrichment activities in addition to a supportive Personal Mentor system which helps to extend a young person’s learning.

It is important for us to foster tolerance and understanding in our students and to that end, they are encouraged to take a full and active part in charity work and supporting others.

Perhaps the best way to get a true flavour of our Sixth Form is to visit and see us in action. I know you will be impressed!

I look forward to meeting you soon.

KS5 Qualification Offering, information for Higher Education Institutions:

Caedmon College Whitby students attend a relatively small post 16 provider as part of an 11-19 College in a rural, coastal community. We are unable to offer a full range of qualifications due to funding restrictions ie Sport is offered only as a BTEC. Predicted grades are based on summative and formative assessments, including AS results and those BTECs cashed in at certificate level, Science and Sport. Law is not cashed in at the end of the first year of study. In 2014 Caedmon School (Y7-Y9) merged with Whitby Community College (Y10-Y13) to become Caedmon College Whitby. In the most recent OFSTED report Whitby Community College was judged ‘good’. On entry all sixth form students are below national average in all subjects at level 3, significantly so in several subjects.
