Creative Media (BTEC)

What will I study?

This qualification is an introduction to creative digital media production. Learners will develop an understanding of the media industry through analysing media representations, pitching and producing media projects. It is designed for post-16 learners who aim to progress to higher education and ultimately to employment, possibly in the media industries, as part of a programme of study alongside other BTEC Nationals or A-levels.

What do students do afterwards?

This vocational course will develop many desirable transferable skills which may result in employment in a creative industry or lead to higher education. Students develop their knowledge of digital processes and software through practical projects which give them an advantage if applying for entry level roles in marketing, media sales or website design, updating and hosting.

How will I be assessed?

Unit 1 and Unit 8 – external exam;
Unit 4 and Unit 12 – internally assessed.

What can I do to prepare?

Talk to other students who are already doing the course and ask them what they have done or wish they had done. We will give you a full bridging programme when you finish your GCSEs and we can help you with any bits you are stuck on.
