Adult Learning

Whitby Adult Learning and Skills Service

Tucked away in the heart of CCW Normanby Site the Adult Learning Service continues to offer a varied programme to ensure the learning ethos fostered by the College is available to adults in the Community.

‘Our aim is to provide a wide range of high quality, part time courses and workshops which all adults can enjoy; whilst making the learner experience productive and fulfilling.  Many of the courses we offer support people who are unemployed.  Learners are able to develop their employability skills through various courses which raise their aspirations for work and life.’

Whitby Adult Learning and Skills Service provides a wide range of high quality courses many of which are free if you are unemployed, receiving state benefits and actively seeking work.

Information, Advice and Guidance Service

We offer free advice and guidance on all courses including information on free courses, training and workshops, qualifications, funding and specialist support e.g. hearing/sight impairment, disability or learning difficulty.  Our learning and skills advisers are qualified and provide relevant information and planning sessions to help you choose the correct route to develop your career and job prospects.  All sessions are free, one to one and confidential.

Types of Courses/Careers

We offer professional qualifications in Business Administration, Accounting, Childcare, Computing, Counselling, English, Health and Social Care Studies, Hospitality and Catering, Maths, Science, Skills for Work, and Working in Schools.

The vocational courses cover a programme of learning which includes functional skills qualifications in English and Maths and a voluntary work experience placement.
